China Day 16: More Cultural Assumptions

On the way out of the hotel here, I want to share another "You're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy" moment: What is odd about this picture?

You may have to click it bigger to see. Where Americans might leave out a certain ill-fated number slightly larger than twelve, the Chinese omit fours and fourteens which are held to be unlucky because the words sound similar to the words for death and dying.
